With more than 800 music festivals in the U.S., choosing which to attend can be a daunting task.

Chances are you’re already familiar with the heavyweights, like Coachella, Lollapalooza (which helped reignite the modern festival boom in 1991), SXSW, and Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), the largest electronic dance music festival in North America.

While the big names dominate headlines, there’s a whole world of lesser-known gems out there. These up-and-coming or more under-the-radar festivals offer incredible lineups, unique atmospheres, and the chance to experience something special.
