Sony Music Entertainment is poised to purchase Queen’s music catalog for a staggering $1.27 billion, marking a record-breaking deal in the music industry.

Currently, Michael Jackson sits at the top of the biggest payouts list, at $600 million, which Sony Music Group reportedly paid for half of the King of Pop’s catalog in 2022. Assuming his other half goes for the same price, Jackson and the legendary British rock band would be on par. But, for now, Queen reigns supreme.

Queen’s “Greatest Hits,” first released in 1981, is the band’s best-selling album of all time, with total sales of over 25 million copies.
